British Calendar Trends: From Beryl Cook to Manchester

It has come to that time of year where people are looking towards the New Years Eve celebrations and the start of 2009. With the change of the year people are starting to turn their attention to getting themselves a new calendar for 2009. Calendarswa are a great present for the New Year and there are so many calendars available that you can find one to match anybodies personality.

You usually find that you get the regular calendars with models, Premiership football clubs, animals and more but in Britain we also have quirky and unique calendars, which have become very popular. A calendar can represent the broad range of personalities that there are in the UK and the Calendar club give regular reports on what is hot and what is not in the world of calendars.

Artist calendars are always popular whether they contain painted landscapes, photographs of people and places, portraits or abstract art. Art calendars are either a group of artwork by a single artist or a selection of art prints by a whole host of artists. Beryl Cook is a very fashionable UK artist from Plymouth, that has a very successful calendar featuring Beryl Cook prints. Other artists like Tim Bulmer and Doug Hyde have had their art featured in a collection of British artists work.

Landscapes and nature are a popular choice and come in a variety of styles. You tend to get a lot of calendars that have beautiful photos of areas of outstanding natural beauty in the United Kingdom and these tend to look similar to an advert for British walking holidays and seaside towns. There are so many examples of areas like Bournemouth beaches, people walking in the Cheshire meadows and British castles. You will also find cityscapes featuring some of the United Kingdom’s largest towns and cities in some of the most popular streets in these areas. Newcastle, London and Manchester are often featured as they have many famous points of interest and you also get to see all the Manchester restaurants and London buses.

When it comes to quirky calendars, Britain has a vast history of producing interesting calendars to raise money for charity. British people also have a habit of taking their clothes off and recent additions have been the naked farmers as well as the partially naked pictures of WI members, which went on to become a film. In 2009 tractors are a popular theme, with one calendar having a different picture of a tractor for every day of the year. As well as this there are the puppies practising their yoga and water skiing and goats too have apparently become the calendar to have in 2009. The king of the calendars that sells by the boatload each year and hasn’t been out of the nations favourites for the past 25 years and that man is Cliff Richard!
