We have the beautiful Monarch Butterflies...they range from 1/2 in to 4ins in length. We also have the White Moths which are smaller, 1/2in.

As for spiders, we have very large, hairy, greyish, brown Sugar Cane spiders. And the usual variety that you will experience while hiking.

Take tonz of bug spray with ya....the mosquitos will **** YOUR BLOOD!!!

Butterflies are normal size orange and black ones. There are no real poisonous spiders here. One of the most common is the yellow garden spider and the cane spider both are relatively harmless and dont bother you. Were not completely infested with spiders or butterflies so there's nothing to worry about. All our insects & spiders are safer and less terrifying (in my opinion) than the insects & spiders in the mainland.

If are you going to be doing eco tours and hiking, I'm sure you'll run into butterflies and spiders while walking around. However, I don't know exactly what type or how many you'll run into.

Just keep in mind that you are bigger than the butterfly or the spider and that they are just as scared of you as you are of them......

Good luck and happy travels!
