china for one month, europe backpacking for 2, or hawaii (Oahu) for a month?

Joe M asked:

Next summer while in college I will be taking a long vacation either going to china for a month, backpacking through europe for 2, or staying in hawaii for one. My first choice is China, since I have always to go, Europe, then hawaii. What would you do?? Can you explain why? I am having a hard time deciding…..Thanks and I will pick a best answer one that helps me decide…
It will be in summer time like June and July

  1. ShamWOW!!!! (btw I'm a girl) Says:

Go to europe… don’t give china anymore of your money. I’ve been there and it’s interesting.. but japan is cooler… i wouldn’t ever go back to china.

hawaii.. over rated.. beautiful.. but if you’ve seen one tropical island you’ve seen them all….

Europe has more history and a lot more things to do and see.. you get a variety… not just one theme or culture

if u come to china ,i can tell u so much.but i think 1 month is not enough……
    big cites:Beijing(the capital)
u can pay a visit to the Olympic village and the ancient buildings.a nice place to learn Chinese history, but if u go there,u ‘d better find one to explain .the story is more interesting.
    hongkong
i think it is the most developed city in china.a global city, many foreigners live and work there,a place for u to know modern china^ u can buy a lot luxury items with a quite reasonable price
shanghai,Qingdao are also similar to HK,modern cites
but if i were u ,i ‘d like to pay more time on natural scenery here
Tibet is a nice place for backpacking,
the southern part of china has lots of ethnic minorities, different clothes, languages, customs…oh , there are more than 50 minorities……
there are so many things i want to tell u ,but i don’t know where to start,if u still want some details about china, you can contact me by Msn:yaoting333@hotmail.com

Honestly, I’d go to Europe. The dollar is going to continue to weaken, and I have had my most fun experiences while there.. I guess everyone differs..

I personally also use EF College Break when traveling there. They also guarantee to be the cheapest touring company!.. And the code Tech2009 now will save you money on tours with them.. Just my preference, though.

hey, the first anti-china answer really is unfair!
just to visit a country doesnt mean to support its government or system. its actually the right thing to do for trying to understand whats going on over there.
whats wrong with spending money in china? i havent been to japan so i dunno if its cooler but its definetely way more expensive than china and europe is f*cking expensive.
btw it doesnt matter where you buy your stuff when its all made in china anyway, and there at least the price isnt for the sake of intermediaries ^^

but seriously, im european and have lived and travelled in china and i also have to say it totally depends on what u want!

i think u cant even compare china and europe.

a visit to china could be more adventurous and challenging in positive and negative ways, but summarized still positive of course. it may just be the experience with a deeper impact.
on the other hand europe provides a higher (but no total!)guarantee for just having some fun and less trouble, mainly due to the fact that its not that different to your place than is china. so the biggest risk i’d see here for you is that you leave with the impression of europe being just as your home but in a different look. theres nothing more pissing me of than seeing american and other western tourists over here sitting in a starbucks.
i imagine it harder to find “real european” food in europe than finding real chinese food in china ^^
also i think one can definetely say its much cleaner here and public transportation is less exhausting.

if it were to generalize: china would be rather exciting and europe rather relaxing/easy to cope with.

i recommend you china for a totaly new, crazy experience, but only if are absolutely open-minded and not fussy.
and europe if you wanna have a smooth, nice journey.
