I am visiting Oahu in March for the first time?

Juice Plus – U gotta Try It! asked:

I will be renting a car for 2 days and staying in Waikiki. On the days I rent the car, we want to travel around. Where are some
“must-go’s?” thanks

I suggest to get a map and just drive around the island. and if you see anything that caches your eye, stop there..
If you were here longer, then you could have gotten on our local Bus and just traveled around the island that way.. get transfers at each stop (or just purchase ), then transfer to another bus to take you further,,(though you would need a bus map/route located on thispage somewhere ).
You could also check out the windward side of the island (kaneohe/Kailua).. drive on the pali and go to the look outs over there, really nice view, shows hawaii/oahu at its finest…

Good question. Like to see people thinking ahead and not get stuck in traffic. Yes, there is a lot of traffic and it is no way to spend your time while you are on vacation. The times to avoid is 6:00 a.m. to about 9:00 a.m. coming into town on the Pali and H1. The times to avoid going out of town is about 3:00 p.m. to about 6:00 p.m. There is just a lot of traffic coming into town and out of town. There is also a lot of traffic on the weekend, everybody just loves to get out and about.

So in short, remember these times and try to plan not to be on the road in these directions at these times. What we recommend is you take the back road to the North Shore, you are going there right??? Take the Kam Highway on the East Shore, up around the North East corner of the island into the North Shore. This takes you off of the well beaten path to the North Shore and shows you some of the back roads of the island and some more beautiful scenery.

So the must go’s, take the trip and branch off from there, you will find plenty to do.

    Hope you enjoy,

Top 5 (in no particular order)
    1. Waikiki Beach
    2. Pali Lookout
    3. Polynesian Cultural Center (go to the luau and the night show)
    4. Sea Life Park
    5. Punch Bowel and Diamond Head
    6. Oh wait and an amazing hike! There is a place called Waimea Valley where you can swim in a waterfall at the top!!! Get as close as you want it’s amazing!
    7. Oh and Dole Plantation, they have the largest maze in the world of 2003. It’s really fun! And you can have pinneapple ice cream, it’s delicous, samples, and a train ride through the plantation! I really hope you have fun! I’ve went twice last year!
Also Pearl Harbor (if you like that history)

Once it got so windy on the top of Pali Lookout that I could lean forward and the wind would hold me up. Go hiking!!!!
