Polynesian Culture Center and Pearl Harbor?

Gigi asked:

I am planning a vacation to Oahu for a week in February. Is there a day of the week that is better than others to go to these places? I would like to keep wait times as minimal as possible.

Don’t go on a weekend or holiday. Get there early.

I would recommend that you go during Monday – Thursday and not during the holiday (President’s Day 2/19). Fridays may be a little congested since it’s before the weekend and many local residents like to take Fridays off from work.

But even going on the weekend, it’s not so bad. It’s not like going to Disneyland during the summer and waiting an hour or more in line for a ride. At Pearl Harbor, the line for the ride out to the memorial is not bad.

At the Polynesian Cultural Center, it’s mostly watching shows, presentations and then some activities. It’s pretty big so people move around a lot making the lines for activities not that long. I think the longest lines are at the dinner luau (if you are going). Night show line goes really fast into the arena.

Note: Polynesian Cultural Center is closed on Sundays.

Pearl Harbor you can see any time during the week without problems. Polynesian Cultural Center is a bit different. One thing I wanted to pass on to you is that depending on where you are flying from remember the time change. First of all the center does not serve any caffeine drinks because it is against the Mormon religion. We went on our 2nd night in Hawaii and we have a 5 hour time change so bu 7pm when the big show started we were both getting sleepy. The show was great but I was dying for a cola to perk me up but they had nothing. Book it for a few days into your trip.
