What are some cool things to do in Oahu, Hawaii solo?
Bill D asked:
I’m going to Hawaii in a month by myself, what are some cool activities to do? I’m scuba certified so I will probably do some diving.

Just head to the north shore; winter is the season for the pipeline – amazing! Watching the sea turtles at Turtle Bay relaxing and beautiful. There is less crowding than in the Waikiki area. Rent a car and ride around the island, there is something around every curve.

If you are going to Oahu you definitely want to rent a car. There are so many amazing beaches around the entire Island. I’m assuming you are staying in Waikiki, you don’t want to stay there the entire time so get a car and explore the Island. Check out the beaches on the North Shore, they have great surf and are the most beautiful of the beaches on the Island.
For Scuba Diving, go to Sharks Cove, which is located on the North Shore, not too many people know about it, so it usually isn’t to crowded. There you will see sea turtles, amazing fish and it is located in an amazing little cove.
The windward side is also very nice and has great beaches that do not have as much surf as the north shore. If you want a relaxing day on the beach head to the leeward side of Oahu. One of my favorite beaches there is Lanikia. Lanikia has the some of the best snorkling on the entire Island, with colorful coral and amazing colorful fish.
Spend a day hiking Diamond head, a great, easy hike with a rewarding view at the top.
Most of all, if you are by yourself just explore, hop in your car and explore new parts of the Island.
enjoy

Pose for photos in front of the Duke Kahanamoku Statute. There is a live web cam there, so you can call one of your friends that are on the net, give them the address, and wave to them live.

There are so many fun things to do in Oahu, it’s easy to enjoy a solo trip.
Since you’re SCUBA certified, I’d suggest getting a diving boat and going off-shore. Near the North Shore of Oahu is Kahuna Canyon – it’s a beautiful diving spot. Some people say it looks like the Grand Canyon underwater. Another unique diving experience on Oahu that I’ve read about is WWII Wreck Diving. Exploring the remains of old war machines sounds intriguing. There’s a guide to it here:
You could also go Kayaking at Kailua Beach or Waimea Valley.
If you’d like some company, Dolphin encounters are such a magical experience. Sea Life Park and Dolphin Quest are two places on Oahu where you can meet some sea creatures up close.
Don’t forget you could also hike the Diamond Head trails or surf at any one of the beaches.
If you’re still not sure what you’d like to do, then read over this guide of 101 Things to Do (http://view.digipage.net/?userpath=00000018/00000491/00033554/) before you go. They sometimes have them at the at the airport.
